De Tomàs
Alejandro Tomàs (Valencia, Spain 1990), known artistically as De Tomàs, is a self-taught artist whose background in engineering and international life experience have given him a distinctive way of seeing the world – precise, structured, yet deeply sensitive. His true teachers have been fellow painter friends and his own relentless curiosity, always pushing him to refine his technique and artistic language.
From an early age, Alejandro displayed a natural inclination towards art, winning local painting competitions and taking part in creative initiatives in his hometown. Despite choosing a professional path in engineering, he never abandoned art. His years living in the UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, the United States, and Japan shaped not only his vision but also his sense of discipline and cross-cultural awareness. These experiences have blended logic and emotion in his work, resulting in compositions that are both thoughtful and emotionally resonant.
De Tomàs explores themes such as memory, perception, and the silent tension between order and chaos. His works often reflect a dialogue between structure and spontaneity, precision and gesture, creating a contemplative space for the viewer. For him, painting is a way to reconcile these opposites – an ongoing process of discovery rather than a fixed destination.
Today, De Tomàs has exhibited in Spain and participated in several UK art fairs, building a growing international presence. He is currently developing new collections that further expand his visual language, combining minimalism, symbolism, and a sense of timelessness. His body of work transforms technical precision into visual poetry, inviting the viewer to pause and find a moment of introspection.
About the Collection
Aurora was born from the need to give shape to thoughts and emotions that have always been with us, often too complex to fully understand. Here, they are transformed into strokes and gestures distilled into a visual language that our eyes can recognise and feel, reaching directly to the root.
Each panel acts like a puzzle piece: on its own it holds a clue, a trace, a symbol. But when they come together, everything makes sense, revealing a silent map that guides us between emptiness and presence. And it is there that we find an answer, not in the form of words, but in emotion. Through Aurora, De Tomàs transforms his structured vision into poetic abstraction. Each mark, reduced to the essential, is placed exactly where it needs to be, as if obeying an invisible harmony between calculation and sensitivity.
Materials & Techniques
Aurora is created on wooden panels mounted on a frame, combining a rich variety of techniques and materials. Each piece blends acrylic paint with oil strokes, artistic waxes that add texture and depth, sprays and airbrushing, as well as elements such as copper or iron, ceramic powder and different types of crushed marble. The result is a timeless body of work with layers that invite the viewer to pause, explore, and connect with its silent narrative.
