Allan Morgan
Allan Morgan lives in the beautiful border county of Herefordshire and Powys. Born in 1952, he graduated from Coventry’s Lanchester Art College with a BA Honours degree in Fine Art. His professional career has since focused mainly on realistic landscape painting, although he has also enjoyed considerable success as an illustrator.
Over the years, Allan’s paintings have become instantly recognisable for their serene atmosphere and luminous use of colour. His ability to capture the subtle interplay between light and landscape gives his work a timeless, contemplative quality. He has exhibited widely across the UK, and his paintings are held in numerous private collections both nationally and internationally.
In recent years, Allan has extended his style to encompass a more “colourist” approach, exploring bolder palettes and expressive brushwork. This evolution allows him to convey emotion and mood as much as topography, while still maintaining the precision and compositional strength that define his earlier realist pieces.
The basis of his inspiration remains largely the same, however, an enduring love of light, colour, and atmosphere in the natural world. Influences in Allan’s paintings are varied and include the Pre-Raphaelites, the Fauvists, and the Impressionists. Having formerly spent many years living near the coast, he regularly revisits seascapes and coastal themes, evoking the tranquillity and power of the sea through both traditional and contemporary techniques.
Allan’s work continues to evolve, reflecting his deep connection to the British landscape and his ongoing fascination with the emotional resonance of light and place.
